about
23 was a bright year. A year of growth, a flood of words, a non stop flow of visceral cinematic images in a life played out under a golden dawn of quickening, and apocalypse within. These songs sprung forth that year, or are of character that left indelible marks on me that year, and I, them. This one's for Perrey Reeves. Slainte.
lyrics
Too Bad for You
I will outlive you, I will outlast you,
all my resentment will only put me past you
you’re insincere enough to smile at my poor jokes
you were never dear enough to know when I need help the most
and it’s too bad for you
your times of understanding are so few
and it’s too bad for you
I’m the wayward boy you never knew
how I believed you, and you’re still a small child
all that’s behind you just drove your mind wild
I think you know enough to know the simple games
the ones that get you close enough to never take the blame
I’ve been where you have, I’ve seen the same things
but there are no excuses for what a weak heart brings
it didn’t mean enough, so you leave the way you came
you did it clean enough, but it’s dirty just the same
