about
23 was a bright year. A year of growth, a flood of words, a non stop flow of visceral cinematic images in a life played out under a golden dawn of quickening, and apocalypse within. These songs sprung forth that year, or are of character that left indelible marks on me that year, and I, them. This one's for Eliza (Simons) Roberts, thank you Keaton Simons and Eric Roberts. Slainte.
lyrics
Ode to Eliza Roberts
And what of the light in her eyes,
does it shine bright for everyone, or just me?
And what of the fire in the red of her hair,
when the sun hits her elegantly?
And what of the warm soft way she can say that I’m gonna be just fine?
And what of the touch of her hand that is sweeter than wine?
And I have poems and pictures, permanent forms and fixtures
Utterly irreplaceable haunts, spirits that know all my woes and wants,
Eliza, I always see you there, you’re part of God’s show
Eliza, I just thought you should know
And what of the past, and the way I depleted,
mistreated her generous heart?
And what of the days yet to come, now I’m dumb,
and I don’t know where to start?
And what of the dreams that she fostered, and fed,
that I fought each step of the way?
And what of the way she is still here for me today?
And I have wreckage and ruin, and struggles with what I’m doin’
Utterly unbelievable pains, she’s still a spirit that sings while it rains
Eliza, I always see you there, you’re part of God’s show
Eliza, I just thought you should know
Eliza, I always see you there, you’re part of God’s show
Eliza, I just thought you should know
